Acronym challenge!
Here are some current acronyms that you may hear regarding your
child's school and academic progress.
ESL: English as a Second Language
ESOL: English for Speakers of Other Languages
TESOL: Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages
ELL: English Language Learner
SOL: Standards of Learning (the VA tests that all 3-12 grade students take each year)
DOE: (Virginia's) Department of Education
WIDA: World Class Instructional Design and Assessment (the yearly test given to VA ESOL students)
