"Tell me and I forget, leach me and I may remember. involve me and I learn."
    -Benjamin Franklin

Because of the generosity of the Staunton community, The Student Advocate is able to highlight the creative activities of teachers as they strive to help our students discover the lessons of the past, while providing skills to live in an increasingly complex world.  The features from each school in the pages of The Student Advocate celebrate those teachers who truly involve their students in learning.

The Student Advocate is a unique publication, sent to every parent of our elementary and middle school parents, displayed in area businesses, and inserted as a tabloid in The NewsLeader. In addition, we are the only area school system which provides a 12-16 page publication which includes photos of school events, color on selected pages, art work from outstanding student artists - and budding elementary artists, and publicity for each and every school throughout the school year.  What is another reason that the paper is unique? It exists because the major part of its funding comes from community donations.

We dedicate space in each issue to recognize our sponsors in whatever form they desire:  as a brief advertisement of your business, as a simple listing of your name in the sponsors' box, or as an anonymous donor. All contributions are eligible as a tax deductible gift to the schools.
