Mrs. K. Salyer
Hello! I'm Mrs. Salyer (a lot of folks just call me Mrs. S.), and this is my first year at Staunton High School. I graduated from Bridgewater College in 2005, and got my first teaching job at Fort Defiance High School, where I taught for 13 years. After Fort, I spent two years at Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center, and now I'm here to begin my sixteenth (say whaaaat??) year as an educator. I absolutely LOVE what I do, and I'm excited to get to know my students and see them grow over the next few years.
I have a husband, three kids, two dogs, two cats, and a bearded dragon, so life for me is never boring. I spend as much time as I can on my porch swing, and my favorite place to vacation is the beach. There are all kinds of ways to duplicate the sound and sight of the ocean, but there's no way to enjoy the smell of the salt and the brush of the breeze without actually being on the sand. I'd teach from there if I could! I also enjoy music, coffee, and hanging out with my kids (usually).
I'm happy to help you with anything I can, or point you in the right direction if I can't. Please email me as you need to, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. If you need me in the evenings, the best way to reach me is via the Remind app.
I am SO excited about getting school going! I co-teach in three English classes with three AH-mazing co-teachers; there's info about those on the left side of the page. If you have any questions, just give a holler. See you soon!
