• Hi all! My name is Kelsi Wood, and I am SO excited to be your fifth grade teacher!

I was born and raised right here in Staunton, and went through Staunton City Schools myself! I graduated from Robert E. Lee in 2012 and went right to Bridgewater College to study elementary education - I knew I wanted to be a teacher way back in middle school! I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Liberal Studies and my teaching licensure to teach PreK-6th grade. This will be my THIRD year here at McSwain and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else doing anything else!

Aside from school, I love to spend time with my family and friends - they are so important to me! I like to sing, especially in the car, and will probably bust a move or two in class from time to time. I enjoy watching baseball (Go Nats!) and you are likely to see me at Lee High sporting events! Pugs are my favorite - but Beagles are a close second, sunflowers are the BEST flowers, and Spring is my favorite season!

My main goal as your teacher is to build a positive and encouraging atmosphere for you to grow and thrive in, and to meet your needs as a learner! I believe that working together and building on each others' strengths can make amazing things happen! We will be working hard this year to create a "team" that knows how to work together in a positive and successful way! I am looking forward to a fun and exciting school year, getting to know each and every one of you all and watching you grow into lifelong learners!
