Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Tammy Lightner
HELLO Ware Families!
I would like to introduce myself and let you know a little about me. I am a local to Augusta County, where I grew up attending Riverheads High School. I am the mother of two amazing young men, Daniel-19 and Landon-15. We enjoy spending time at the ball field, watching football and spending family time at the dinner table.
In my work experience, I was employed at DuPont Community Credit Union in the Marketing/ Human Resources department. This then lead me to a position as the Financial Educator at DCCU. It was then that I discovered “school” is where my heart is. I pursued a position as a teacher after graduating from Mary Baldwin. I landed my first position as a 5th grade teacher at William Perry Elementary. I taught there for 3 years teaching all the content areas. As my kids grew older, it was clear I needed to be closer to their home school. So, I moved to Riverheads Elementary first as a 3rd grade teacher and then as a 5th grade teacher for a total of 7 years. With all these experiences in the classroom it gave me the strength and courage to apply to grad school. I decided to attend JMU where I received my degree in administration. During this time, I gained some middle school experience at Wilson Middle as a 6th grade Math and Science teacher for 2 years. This past year, I was the School Improvement Leader and Math Coach at Bessie Weller.
I have loved getting to know Staunton City Schools and its community! All of these opportunities have helped me to prepare for the exciting role as the A.R. Ware Assistant Principal. I am thrilled to be here in the Ware Community. I look forward to meeting each of you and working with our team of teachers to help your students grow in their success.
We will make this a great year!
