Laurie NolleyPre-School Teacher
My name is Laurie Nolley and I am an ECSE teacher at Dixon Preschool. I graduated from Bridgewater College with a BA in English. I got my teacher certification coursework and master’s coursework from Old Dominion University.
I have been teaching preschoolers at Dixon for seven years. Prior to that, I taught three years in an elementary self-contained setting at Ware. Before pursuing my teaching certification, I was an instructional assistant for six years in a regional classroom for preschoolers with autism that was housed at Bessie Weller Elementary.
I believe that special education is not confined to a “place” but instead is comprised of services that can and should occur in typical settings. I love working with students with disabilities in the general education classroom. It is exciting to see all students working and learning from each other!
I live with my husband and five year old granddaughter. We have two dogs and one cat. We built the house that we currently live in. It was a very daunting task and one that I will never repeat!
