"The mission of Arthur R. Ware Elementary School is to facilitate student's success through meaningful learning experiences designed to develop and instill the skills necessary to become caring, responsible citizens, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners." As the school counselor I will work with families, administration, school staff and our community to advocate for the needs of our children at A.R. Ware Elementary School. As a team, we can create a supportive, community environment addressing children’s developmental needs as they face unique challenges in both school and life.
What are school counselors?
"Parents, the press, administrators and the general public often wonder just what it is that school counselors do on a daily basis. Gone are the days of school counselors sitting in their office simply handing out college applications, making schedule changes for students who want to drop a class or waiting for a crisis to occur. Today's school counselors are vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, career and social/emotional development, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow."- American School Counselor Association
School counselors are people in the school that can and will listen when children or adults need to share. Our time is used to help children with things such as problem solving, naming and understanding feelings, self esteem, making friends, and learning to become responsible community members.
